CASE STUDY ~ WEB DESIGN & DEV, PHOTOGRAPHY
Leading Light Bergen
Leading Light Bergen is one of Bergen’s established tattoo studios, with a history going back to 1996. But the new website wasn’t meant to feel like a traditional tattoo studio website. The goal was to create something with more character: artistic, slightly rock & roll, and unmistakably connected to the physical studio in Bergen.
Photography played a central role. Rather than relying on generic imagery or stock photography, the website was built around original photographs taken at the studio, giving the digital experience a sense of place and personality.
The result is a website designed to feel less like a catalogue and more like an extension of the studio itself.
ART DIRECTION
The visual direction deliberately sits somewhere between contemporary editorial design and tattoo culture. Strong typography, oversized type, photography and carefully controlled layouts create a visual identity that feels expressive without competing with the artists’ work. The photography brings the physical world of Leading Light into the digital one: the people, the studio, the atmosphere and the details that make the place what it is.
The website needed to feel polished, but never sterile.
AROUND THE ARTISTS
Leading Light’s roster changes over time, with new artists joining and others moving on. Instead of treating the artist pages as individually designed pieces of content, we created a reusable system for them.
Each artist can be presented through the same underlying structure while still having their own work, specialties, biography and visual presence.
This means the website can evolve with the studio without requiring a redesign every time the team changes.
